GETTING STARTED: Download the PDF for the Cross Stitch Bicycle Tote Project. We recommend that you mount your fabric in a hoop or stretcher frame for best results in stitching. Find the center of the fabric and mark it with a pin.
STITCHING THE DESIGN: Find the center on your chart and begin stitching at the corresponding point on your fabric. Follow the chart to complete the cross stitch part of the design. Add the Back Stitch and French Knot details.
FINISHING: Cut the Aida to allow at least 1/2" around the stitching. Measure your trimmed design, then cut your contrasting fabric about 1-1/4" larger on all 4 sides than the stitched fabric. Center your stitched design over the border fabric and pin in place.
Working 1/4" inside the cut edge of the Aida, use a running stitch to attach your stitched design to the border fabric. Press the edge of the border fabric under 1/2", then sew to the front of the tote with matching thread.
