Rated 2 out of 5 by from cute but very difficult to make I have been sewing for over 35 years and I have found this pattern to be lacking enough instructions. The description and drawings are not clear at points. Additionally this ended up being a very expensive costume in material. Fit is off some what. I cut to pattern but did not fit my daughter or my form well. I have had to adjust fit in many areas. Love the look hate the process of this costume. I honestly feel many things could have been done more easily.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For the advanced sewer Simplicity does not describe this pattern. I bought this pattern to make for my daughter. Its a great looking pattern but ended up being quite complicated. I have been sewing for more than 40 years and have made tailored jackets so I'm not new at this. I started with the skirt and each ruffle of the skirt took me at least two to three days to complete (beware the lowest ruffle is approx. 30 feet long) that was once I understood the instructions. At first I sewed lace to the edge of each ruffle, only to realise that it is on the bottom ruffle only. The jacket took ages to complete, due to the amount of basting required for the narrow hems, the addition of the ruffles etc. If you decide to make this pattern, make sure that the sleeve at the elbow is not too tight as I used the correct pattern size for my daughter and found I had to recut the lower sleeve and adjust the flounces so that it wasn't too tight. Another option would be to use a fabric with stretch in it. Overall, the costume looks great but if you decide to make it, give yourself LOTS of time. This is not a costume that can be made in a weekend or week for that matter.
