Rated 5 out of 5 by Sewfolie from Garment quality construction So I love this pattern:) It is a bit on the more complex side if one is new to sewing, but persist. The end result is lovely! Also, its not far off from a real kimono. There is a back seam! :):) Also, it being fullly lined and bagged is AMAZING:) I do not so much like the "dickey", but for costume purposes and time, I understand. Instead, I made a second kimono robe of white cotton, as this is actually called a juban and is the undergarment and the collar that shows from under the actual kimono. So if you are going for more authentic, plan on making 2( one being all white , the juban:) Again, for costume purposes, the obi belt and such are ok. With a bit of quick research, you can avoid all of the snaps and hooks and make an actual obi. Overall though, the design and execution is quite lovely! Graet for the base of a kimono. But give yourself time to make this. This is not a quick project. I am in the process of making another for a family member, because I had so many rave reviews on the first.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mika from Kimono I bought this hoping to make my own Kimono but the directions are really complicated for someone who hasn't had much experience sewing, like me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by choirsewer from Terrible directions The garment is nice--but difficult to make. The directions are not clear at all. If you're looking for an easy-to-sew kimono, look elsewhere!
