Rated 2 out of 5 by Cat318 from Shirts Fit Well but Instructions are incomplete I am a somewhat experienced clothing maker so I figured it out, but there are several steps missing in this pattern's instructions. From what I can gather, you should stitch front to back at shoulder seams right after you put in the stay-stitching at the neck on step 1. The collar instructions are written very badly. The directions for the loop make no sense at all unless you happen to have noticed that the button template has no top button. The loop is for the top button. There is no indication on the pattern or the instructions what that loop is for, or which "dot" it connects to on the front -- because there are several dots on the front. Note to makers-- it will look better, and be simpler to make, with a normal top buttonhole. Once the shirts are made, men's sizes are true. Boy's size M is about a size 6, and L is about a size 8. Once the instructions are corrected, I'll change my rating to 4star.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Nelle from Missing instructions I consider myself an advanced intermediate seamstress and have sewn more complicated tailored shirt dresses in the past and figured this pattern should be a breeze. I've put an hour in to this project and am throwing it away. No where in the instructions does it tell you when to attach the back to the front, and the collar instructions are totally unclear. They may as well read "Attach the thing to the thing but don't catch the thing. Then turn." Pattern has gone into the bin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by pinkcat from haha 3 hours - no way! I thought this would be an easy pattern as it states 3 hours. The directions are too vague. NO WAY 3 hours.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Loves to sew from Junk Pattern Instructions are missing key elements. There are no directives to connect shirt front to back! It took me an hour and a headache to discover this error. Simplicity should remove this pattern from production or sale until you fix this blatant mistake. Ridiculous. My last purchase of a simplicity pattern will be this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jokull from not very well-worded I'm 16 years old and have only a about nine years experience sewing, this is one of the many Simplicity patterns i've used. it is not very descriptive on key elements (such as sewing the front to back at shoulder and side seams) and also has some questionable decisions like a loop closure rather than a normal buttonhole at the top button. It was a bit confusing and i believe the collar is very odd, you use blind stitches to close the back, but no matter what the allowance given will cause it so be uneven. also, the facing is not sewn down and will come up when you put on the garment, so i suggest sewing it down at far more edges if you're not using a solid colour! it did come out successful. if you need help there is a lovely youtube video on this pattern and any other men's shirt tutorial video will do

Rated 1 out of 5 by Nesha2412 from waste i thought it was just me but I see that everyone had a problem with this pattern. Pattern instructions were very poor and the neck stand was missing. Im glad I am not the only. This actually discouraged me from sewing for a while. I

Rated 1 out of 5 by Plastic Alice from Worst pattern I have ever used. Pattern for boxer shorts is terrible. The instructions make no sense, steps are missed out - please do not bother buying this pattern. I tried to contact Simplicity to ask for more information, I heard nothing.
