Dresden Plates or Fans
| 1. Cut even size strips. Cut the strips ½” larger than the finished Fan, or half the size of a finished Dresden Plate + ½” for seam allowances. For example: for a 12” finished Plate, cut 6” + ½ = 6 ½” wedge. | |
| 2. Position the tool on the strip, with the pointed end at the top or bottom of the strip. Cut on both sides of the tool for the first cut. | ![]() |
| 3. Reverse the tool, align the point at the opposite edge of the strip and cut again. Continue in this manner down the length of the strip. | ![]() |
| 4. For a Fan, sew three wedges together. | ![]() |
| 5. For a Dresden Plate, sew four sets of three wedges together. Spin the seam allowances around the center. | ![]() |
Triangle within a Square
| 1. To make a triangle-within-a-square, cut the strips in two different fabrics in the size for the unfinished block you have chosen. Use this table to determine the size strips you will need relative to the block size: | |||||||||||
