Werewolf Headband

Materials Needed:

Directions:

  1. Download and print Werewolf Ears Pattern.  You will use the same pattern pieces for both the ears and inner ears.
  2. Cut one set of ears from faux fur fabric; cut one set of ears from inner ear fabric.
  3. With RIGHT sides together, pin one ear to one inner ear, matching cut edges and leaving the bottom of the ear open for turning.  Repeat with other ear/inner ear.
  4. Using a straight machine stitch, sew the two long edges of the ears in a 1/4” seam.  Clip curves and trim off point to remove bulk, being careful not to clip through machine stitching.
  5. Turn ears RIGHT side out.  Finger press seams smooth.
  6. Using the pattern piece as a guide, form a pleat in the bottom of each ear by bringing the dotted line to meet the solid line.  Hand base along lower edge to hold pleat in place and keep the bottom of the ear closed.
  7. Cut two lengths of bias tape, each measuring 2” long.
  8. Open one folded edge of each length of tape.
  9. Turn back cut ends of tape 1/4” and press in place if needed.
  10. With RIGHT sides together, pin opened edge of bias tape to bottom of ear, matching the edge of the tape with the cut edge of the ear.  Stitch tape to ear, stitching along the fold.  Remove all pins and basting.
  11. Turn tape to RIGHT side of inner ear, forming a channel.  Overlap folded edge over edge of inner ear 1/4” and pin in place.
  12. With a hand sewing needle and matching thread, slip stitch the tape to the inner ear securely.
  13. Slide ears over headband, using the channels formed by the bias tape.  Position ears as desired, using the photo as a guide.
