Great Grannies Bangle

MATERIALS
One bangle bracelet, 1-1/2" in height x 10" in circumference
Size 4/2.00 Boye® 5" steel crochet hook
Strip of felt to line inside of bangle
Double stick tape
Boye® tapestry needle
12 safety pins
7 balls of size 10 mercerized crochet cotton in different colors (1 main color, 6 contrasting colors)
GAUGE
1-3/4" x 1-3/4" = one completed square
SAVE TIME – CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Change hook size as needed to achieve specified gauge.
GRANNY SQUARE PATTERN
Begin with loose slipknot on hook. Work Rnd 1 stitches into beginning slipknot, then tighten knot when Rnd 1 is complete.
Rnd 1: With any contrast color, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), 2 hdc into ring, ch 2, *3 hdc into ring, ch 2; repeat from * two more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 2. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: Join next contrast color with sl st in any ch 2 corner space, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), [2 hdc, ch 2,
2 hdc] into same space, *ch 1, [3 hdc, ch 2, 3 hdc] into next ch 2 space; repeat from * two more times, ch 1, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 2. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join another contrast color with sl st to any ch 2 corner space, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), [2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc] into same space, *ch 1, 2 hdc into ch 1 space, ch 1, **[2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc] into next ch 2 corner space; repeat from * two more times and from * to ** one more time, join with sl st into top of beginning ch 2. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Join main color with sl st to any corner space, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), [2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc] into same space, *[ch 1, 3 hdc] into each ch 1 space, ch 1, **[2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc] into next ch 2 corner space, repeat from * two more times, then repeat from * to ** one time, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 2. Do NOT fasten off.
Round 5: Sc all sts around, working 3 sc in each corner (72 sc). Weave in all ends.
DIRECTIONS
Work a total of 6 Granny Squares, using pattern instructions above.
FINISHING
With safety pins, attach motifs together in corners, in desired sequence, to hold in place while seaming. Join motifs together in single crochet. Join along top and bottom edges first, then join side seams with sl st with right sides facing. Weave in ends.
Cut a strip of felt to line inside of bangle. Attach to center of bangle using double stick tape, leaving the edges of the felt closest to outside of bangle free from tape. Stitch ring of completed squares to felt, using the Whipstitch method, and secure all ends. Enjoy!
