30 DEGREE TRIANGLE INSTRUCTIONS
Cut strips 1/2" wider than the finished height of the triangle. Align the narrow end of the tool with the bottom edge of the strip of fabric. Cut on both sides of the tool for the first cuts.

Rotate the tool to place the narrow end of the tool at the top of the fabric strip. Continue rotating tool and cutting across the strip.

COMPANION ANGLE INSTRUCTIONS
The numbers down the center are the width of the strip. Example: To cut a triangle with a finished base of 4", cut a 2-1/ 2" strip.
Instructions for use:
1. Cut a strip of fabric the desired width.
2. Align the top of the tool with the top of the strip. The bottom of the strip will align with a solid line on the tool.

3. Cut on both sides of the tool for the first cut.

4. Rotate the tool so the tip is pointing down on the strip. Cut again.

5. Rotate the tool so the top of the tool is aligned at the top of the strip. Cut again.

cutting directions

assembling the blocks
STEP 1 Matching the small ends of the triangles, sew the star print triangle between the two smaller background triangles. Press the seams all one direction. Make 12 units.

STEP 2 Align the Simpli-EZ 6-1/2" square on the corner of the units from Step 1. Trim the units to 5-1/2" square.

STEP 3 Sew the units together in pairs, with the widest end of the star points together. Press the seams all one direction.

STEP 4 Sew the pairs together to make three star blocks. Press.

STEP 5 Sew the small triangles to adjacent sides of the background squares. Press the seams toward the squares. Make four triangle units.

STEP 6 Sew the stars and triangle units together in diagonal rows. Press the seams toward the triangle units. Sew the rows together and press. Trim the long edges straight if necessary.
adding borders
STEP 1 Press the 1" wide accent strips wrong sides together to create a 1/2" wide flange. Baste the flange, raw edges aligned to all sides of the tablerunner with a scant 1/4" seam. At the corners, just overlap the flange.
STEP 2 Measure and cut two border strips the length of the sides of the runner. Sew to the runner top with a full 1/4" seam. Press toward the borders. Repeat this procedure on all sides of the tablerunner.
finishing the quilt
STEP 1 Layer, baste and quilt as desired. The runner shown was stitched in the ditch around the stars and the triangles along the edge. Machine meandering was done in the background areas. A line of quilting was stitched between the flange and the border. Before binding, hand or machine baste (with a walking foot) around the edge of the tablerunner to keep the layers from shifting while the binding is being sewn on.
STEP 2 Join the binding ends with diagonal seams pressed open. Fold in half, wrong sides together and press to make a double binding.
STEP 3 Sew the binding to the tablerunner with a 1/4" seam, mitering the corners. Trim the excess backing and batting, turn the binding to the back side and stitch down by hand with matching thread.
