Congratulations to Meredith Kramer, grand prize winner of Simplicity’s Inspired by Project Runway® Pattern Design Contest!
Meredith Kramer was born in Miami, Florida and moved to South Carolina when she was 5 years old. When she was in high school, she discovered her grandmother’s sewing supplies stowed in a closet. Inspired, Meredith began to teach herself to sew; her first project transformed a pair of jeans into a skirt.
In college, Meredith majored in art history and continued honing her sewing skills, merging her love of art and sewing and developing a distinct personal style. In time she was designing and making clothing for her and her friends. She entered the Simplicity Inspired by Project Runway® Pattern Design Contest and won the grand prize, which included a trip to the Simplicity offices in New York City.
Meredith embraced her time in New York, meeting with Simplicity’s design and production staff, where her winning design is being produced as an Inspired by Project Runway® home sewing pattern for the Simplicity Spring 2011 catalog and distributed worldwide. Upbeat and energetic, she shopped the market, took in the atmosphere of the city and visited the New York’s garment and fabric districts – follow her trip and video interview!
