Simplicity Pattern 8103 Child's Vintage 1950s Dress and Lined Jacket is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have mixed feelings on this pattern The pattern produces the dress seen on the right not the left. If you want any of the dresses on the left plan on increasing the width for the skirt and reduce the length. I successfully made view C, but agree with other poster, it is extremely difficult. I think this pattern is misleading for the simple fact that if you want the vintage look on the left, you should be able to achieve it without all the mental calculations needed to know it won't turn out that way without some changes. The dress on the right, is a dime a dozen, very basic- no need for a vintage pattern. I also think it should have included a petticoat pattern to achieve the correct fullness.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cute before attempting view 3, read all directions for that view, as there is a lot of hand sewing and construction is not the traditional method. Also, before deciding on view 3, test sew the scalloped border on a sandwich of scrap fabric and see if you are pleased with its outcome. I tried several times to stitch the scallops with my machine, even shortening my stitch length and following the lines exactly. When turned right side out, it was not pleasing to the eye. I decided to go with the straight edge bodice on both the dress and jacket after I had gotten to the pockets, which then left me to follow the rest of view 3 construction....which is not the normal construction and a lot of hand sewing. Directions are good. Just know what you are in for before you start the project...it took ten times longer than it should have to make the dress and jacket.
