Approximately 3.5" (9 cm) diameter
- #4 medium weight yarn: 1 skein each: white, sea foam, teal and red
- Boye® crochet hook US size I (5.25 mm)
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
Gauge is not critical for this project.
Make multiple ornaments in various colors as desired.
Ch 5, join with sl st to first ch.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 9 dc into ring, join with sl st in top of ch 3, pm for beginning of round and move marker up as work progresses—10 dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc into ea st around, join with sl st—20 sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around, join with sl st—30 sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st—40 sc.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 3 sc, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in next 3 sc. Fasten off.
Follow directions for Rnds 1-3 of Round Ornament.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc, 2 sc in next sc, *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * 3 more times, dc in next 2 sc, **2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sc, rep from ** 3 more times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc; join with sl st—40 sts.
Row 1: Sl st in next sc, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in sl st and next 2 sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next 3 sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 1: Beginning in second ch from hook, sc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, dc next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next 2 chs, ch 1, do not turn. Continue along other side of beginning ch in same pattern as previous side—20 sts and 1 ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in ea st and ch around. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
Use contrast color yarn to make double cross on each ornament as shown in photo. Cut a piece of yarn about 12" (30.5 cm) longer than desired length for your garland. String ornaments onto yarn sewing in place with one back stitch to stabilize position.
