Gauge is not critical for this project.


  • 3-dcp (3 Stitch Double Chain Popcorn):
3 dc in next st, remove last loop from the hook, (place over finger to hold it in place.) Insert hook in the top loop of the first dc, draw dropped loop through first dc, ch 1 to secure.
  • 4-dcp (4 Stitch Double Chain Popcorn): 4 dc in next st then work as for 3-dcp.
  • Adjustable Ring Method: Wrap yarn into a ring, ensuring that the tail falls behind the working yarn. Grip ring and tail firmly between middle finger and thumb. Insert hook through center of ring, yarn over with working yarn and pull up a loop. Chain the appropriate number and work stitches of first round in the ring. After the first round of stitches is worked, pull gently on tail to tighten ring.
  • Step: 2

    With H hook and color A, use Adjustable Ring Method to begin.
    Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 11 dc in center of ring; join with sl st to top of ch-3—12 dc. Place marker in first st to mark beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
    Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first dc, sl st in next st, *3 dc in next st, sl st in next st; rep from * around—6 small petals made.
    Rnd 3: *Ch 5, skip first petal, sl st in back of sl st between first and second petal. Rep from * around, forming ch-5 loops behind each petal. Join with sl st.
    Rnd 4: In first ch-5 space *sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc; rep from * in each ch-5 space around—6 large petals made. Join with sl st.
    Rnd 5: *Ch 5, sc in row below between petals. Rep from * around. Join with sl st—6 ch-5 spaces. Cut color A.
    Rnd 6: Join Color B, ch 3, 5 dc in first ch-5. *6 dc in next ch-5; rep from * around. Join with a sl st in top of first ch-3—36 dc.
    Rnd 7: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st as joining, remove loop from hook; insert hook in top of ch-3 and draw dropped loop through loop on hook, ch 1 to secure - beginning 3-dcp made; sc in next dc, *3-dcp in next dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st in top of beginning 3-dcp—18 3-dcp popcorns made. Cut color B.
    Rnd 8: Join Color C *ch 2; skip 3-dcp, sc into sc; rep from * around; join with sl st to first ch—18 ch-2 spaces made.
    Rnd 9: Sl st, ch 3, dc In first ch-2 space, 2 dc in next sc. *2 dc in next ch-2 space, 2 dc in next sc. Repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of ch-3—72 dc made. Cut color C.
    Rnd 10: Join color D, ch 3; 3 dc in same st as joining, remove loop from hook. Insert hook in top of ch-3 and draw loop through, ch 1 to secure–beginning 4-dcp made, sc in next dc; *4-dcp in next dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around; join with sl st in top of 4-dcp—36 4-dcp popcorns and 36 sc made. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
