Classic Crochet Ripple Afghan

ABBREVIATIONS: beg—begin(ning); ch—chain; dc—double crochet; st(s)—stitch(es); tch—turning chain; yo—yarn over
SIZE: 35" (89 cm) wide x 40" (101.5 cm) long
MATERIALS:
- Boye® crochet hook US size Q (15.75 mm)
- 6 super bulky yarn: Approximately 300 yd (274 m) color A and 250 yd (228 m) color B

GAUGE: 6.5 sts x 6 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stitch pattern. Different yarn brands may vary. Take time to check your gauge.
SPECIAL STITCH:
Dc3tog (double crochet 3 together): Yo, insert hook into st or ch and pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops, (yo, insert hook into next st or ch and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops) two times, yo and pull through remaining 4 loops on hook.
NOTES: Pattern Repeat = 14 sts + 2. To make afghan larger or smaller increase or decrease in 14 st multiples. Slide each st up to the full circumference of the hook to maintain gauge.

DIRECTIONS:
With A, ch 58.
Row 1: 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 3 dc),*dc in next 3 ch, dc3tog twice, dc in next 3 ch, [3 dc in next ch] twice, rep from * ending last rep with 3 dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, (counts as dc), 2 dc in first st, *dc in next 3 sts, dc3tog twice, dc in next 3 sts, (3 dc in next st) twice, rep from * ending last rep with 3 dc in top of tch, turn. Cut A.
With color B, repeat Row 2 two times. Cut color B. Continue to alternate two rows of Color A and two rows of color B for 26 rows or until desired length and ending with two rows of color A.

FINISHING:
Weave in all ends.
