BO-bind off; CO-cast on; k-knit; p-purl; pm-place marker; rep-repeat; rnd-round; RS-Right Side; st(s)-stitch(es)


One size: adult woman: 11" (28 cm) long x 8" (20 cm) circumference, not stretched


  • 1 Ball #5 bulky weight yarn – we used Lion Brand® Tweed Stripes® (100% acrylic), 3 oz (85 g), 144 yd (132 m) - #215 Athena
  • Boye® knitting needles US size 10 (6 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Cable needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle

14 1/2 sts and 18 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette st. Gauge is not critical for this project.


3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross): Slip next 3 sts to cable needle and hold to front, k3, then k3 from cable needle.

Step: 2


Ribbing Pattern 1 (multiple of 2 + 1)

Row 1 (RS): P1, *k1, p1, rep from * across.

Row 2: K1, *p1, k1, rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1-2 for pattern.

Ribbing Pattern 2 (multiple of 4)

Row 1 (RS): P3, *k2, p2, rep from * to last st, p1.

Row 2: K3, *p2, k2, rep from * to last st, k1.

Rep Rows 1-2 for pattern.

Cable Panel (over 10 sts)

Row 1 (RS): P2, k6, p2.

Row 2: K2, p6, k2.

Row 3: P2, 3/3 LC, p2.

Row 4: Rep Row 2.

Row 5: Rep Row 1.

Row 6: Rep Row 2.

Rep Rows 1-6 for pattern.

Step: 3


CO 25 sts. Work in Ribbing Pattern 1 for 11 rows.

Row 12: Work 1 more row of Ribbing Pattern 1, knitting into the front and back of the first, center and last sts – 28 sts.

Rows 1, 3 and 5 (RS): K9, pm, work Cable Panel over next 10 sts, pm, k9.

Rows 2, 4 and 6: P9, work Cable Panel over next 10 sts, p9. Work these 6 rows a total of 6 times or to desired length.

Remove markers.

Work in Ribbing Pattern 2 for 12 rows. BO loosely. Fasten off.

Step: 4


With RS together, sew seam.

Put Warmer on with Ribbing 2 over your hand and with the Cable Panel center down back of hand and forearm. Spread ¬fingers and pinch between your thumb and index finger. Make a few stitches in the bind off at this spot. Weave in ends.
