EYELET KNIT EGGS

MATERIALS:
- Size US 2 (2.75mm) Boye® Double Point Aluminum Needles
- Boye® Tapestry needle
- Standard size plastic egg
- #1 sock or fingering weight yarn: PASTEL EGG: 25 yards (23 m) of Color A, 15 yards (13.75 m) each of Colors B and C; BRIGHT EGG: 20 yards (18.2 m) of Color A, 15 yards (13.75 m) of Color B, and 10 yards (9 m) each of Colors C and D
- 18" (46 cm) of satin ribbon

GAUGE:
7 sts = 1" (2.5 cm) in stockinette stitch. SAVE TIME—CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Change needle size as necessary to achieve specified gauge.
COLOR SEQUENCE
After using last color in sequence, repeat sequence as needed beginning with Color #1.
Pastel
1. Color A – Pink
2. Color B – Mint
3. Color A – Pink
4. Color C – Yellow
Bright
1. Color A – Hot Pink
2. Color B – Red
3. Color A – Hot Pink
4. Color C – Yellow
5. Color A – Hot Pink
6. Color D – Orange
DIRECTIONS
Cast on 140 sts with 1st color in SEQUENCE. Distribute equally around 3 double-point needles. Place marker to indicate beginning of the round.
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: K2tog around. (70 sts)
Round 3: Knit.
Round 4: K2tog around to last 2 sts, K2. (36 sts)
Round 5: Knit
Round 6: Knit, changing to next color in SEQUENCE at beg of round.
Round 7: Purl.
Round 8: *(Yo, p2tog); rep from * around.
Round 9: Purl. (36 sts)
Rounds 10–13: Knit, changing to next color in SEQUENCE at the beg of Rounds 10 and 13.
Rounds 14–16: Repeat Rounds 7–9.
Rounds 17–20: Knit, changing to next color in SEQUENCE at the beg of Rounds 17 and 20.
Rounds 21–23: Repeat Rounds 7–9.
Rounds 24–27: Knit, changing to next color in SEQUENCE at the beg of Rounds 24 and 27.
Rounds 28–30: Repeat Rounds 7–9.
Round 31: Knit, changing to next color in SEQUENCE at beg of round.
Round 32: *(K4, k2tog); rep from * around. (30 sts)
Round 33: *(K3, k2tog); rep from * around. (24 sts)
Round 34: *(K2, k2tog); rep from * around. (18 sts)
Round 35: *(K1, k2tog); rep from * around. (12 sts)
Round 36: K2tog around. Cut yarn leaving 8" (20 cm) tail. Feed tail through tapestry needle and through 6 remaining stitches. Gather and fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in all ends. Insert plastic egg. Thread ribbon in and out of the holes created after completing Round 8. Gather and tie a bow.

LACY KNIT EGGS
ABBREVIATIONS:
Beg-beginning; K-knit; K2tog-knit two stitches together; SSK-slip next two stitches as if to knit from left needle to right needle, then insert left needle into the front of these two stitches and knit them in this position through the back loop (1 st decreased); rep-repeat; sts-stitches; yo-yarn over
MATERIALS:
- 50 yards (46 m) #1 sock or fingering weight yarn
- Size US 2 (2.75mm) Boye® Double Point Aluminum Needles
- Boye® Tapestry needle
- Standard size plastic egg
- 18" (46 cm) of satin ribbon

GAUGE:
1 pattern repeat = 1.5" (3.8 cm) in pattern stitch. SAVE TIME—CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Change needle size as necessary to achieve specified gauge.
PATTERN STITCH
Round 1: *(K1, yo, K2, SSK, k2tog, K2, yo); rep from * around.
Round 2: Knit.
Round 3: *(K2, yo, K1, SSK, k2tog, K1, yo, K1); rep from * around.
Round 4: Knit.
Round 5: Knit.
Round 6: Purl.
Round 7: Knit.
DIRECTIONS
Cast on 45 sts. Distribute equally around 3 double-point needles. Place marker to indicate beginning of the round.
Round 1: Purl
Rounds 2–12: Work Rounds 1–7 of PATTERN STITCH once, then work the first four rounds one more time.
Round 13: *(K3, K2tog); rep from * around. (36 sts)
Round 14: Purl. Round 15: *(Yo, p2tog) rep from * around.
Round 16: Purl. (36 sts)
Rounds 17–18: Knit
Rounds 19–31: Work Rounds 1–7 of PATTERN STITCH once, then works Rounds 1-6 one more time.
Round 32: *(K4, k2tog); rep from * around. (30 sts)
Round 33: *(K3, k2tog); rep from * around. (24 sts)
Round 34: *(K2, k2tog); rep from * around. (18sts)
Round 35: *(K1, k2tog); rep from * around. (12 sts)
Round 36: K2tog around. Cut yarn leaving 8" (20 cm) tail. Feed tail through tapestry needle and through 6 remaining stitches. Gather and fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in all ends. Insert plastic egg. Thread ribbon in and out of the holes created.

BASKET WEAVE KNIT EGGS

Round 37: *(K3, k2tog); rep from *around. (24 sts)
Round 38: *(K2, k2tog); rep from * around. (18 sts)
Round 39: *(K1, k2tog); rep from * around. (12 sts)
